Why did you join Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.?
“During my time on campus, I had observed the women of AKA serving the community and from the outside looking in the chapter seemed to have a strong bond of sisterhood. I also, had a friend that was interested and we encouraged one another during the process of becoming members.”

Most memorable moment at your institution?
“
Going to the Bayou Classic football game in New Orleans where we played against Grambling University.”

What advice would you give to an incoming freshman?- “Being far away from home, it’s easy to get distracted. Stay focused on school and don’t overload yourself with too many classes the first year. Use a calendar to organize your life so that you have class and free time planned. Also, be sure to get involved in the campus life.”

Why should a student select Southern University A&M College?- “Southern University has an excellent Engineering and Nursing program. During the time I attended Southern it was the largest HBCU. The majority of my classes were reasonable in size. The professor knew every student and took a personal interest in making sure the student succeeded. Also, it doesn’t hurt to have the best Marching Band and Dancing Dolls among the HBCU’s.”
